In our case, the first one is English (Automatic), and the second option is English (United Kingdom) (Video Language). That will obviously change as the system develops. YouTube will have already created some subtitle options for you. YouTube is playing around with AI for subtitles and it isn’t very good yet. AI can either perform captioning in advance or on the fly. If you want formatting such as bold, italic and coloring, you need to upload a subtitle. Once refined to a reliable standard, this will take over from the two manual methods as it will be cheaper, faster, and hopefully, more accurate than it is now. YouTubes built-in subtitle editor doesnt support styling of any kind. This technology is still in its infancy and often gets things wrong. ![]() You need to click on it and all the subtitles will be generated. Go to the Video Manager and click the Edit button for the video you want to caption. You can turn on your subtitles by an option below your video CC which means subtitles. Increasingly, studios are using AI to automatically generate subtitles and closed captions. You can add and edit captions for videos owned by your YouTube account. Hence, youtube have their own artificial intelligence for videos to make them available with sub-titles in multi languages or as per the location and region that videos are being viewed. These are then embedded into the broadcast, ready for use. Sometimes, uses who uploads videos on YouTube, does not set up sub-title files along with videos. ![]() Scripted shows will often create subtitles and closed captions in post-production using the script and interpretation of what happens on screen. ![]() You can customize captions by changing their appearance and language. You can change the default settings for captions on your computer or mobile device. This is then embedded into the broadcast to be picked up by your player. Captions (subtitles) are available on videos where the owner has added them, and on some videos where YouTube automatically adds them. They listen to what’s going on and manually type the subtitles and sound cues into their stenograph machine. In some unscripted shows, like quiz shows or interviews where you don’t necessarily know what’s coming next, a human stenographer may create closed captions as the show unfolds.
